Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department and the district administration are all set to host the two-day Broghil festival scheduled to start on September 5 at the Broghil National Park located in the Upper Chitral District, according to a news report published on August 21.

The event is arranged to highlight various aspects of the ancient and unique Wakhi culture.
The festival will showcase various activities including donkey/horse/yak polo, football, buzkashi, cricket, tug-of-war, marathon race, wrestling, and other traditional games. Moreover, the festival will also involve fireworks, traditional music and traditional food shows – as the main attractions.

Furthermore, a tent village will be established in Broghil to accommodate the participants and tourists. Established in 2010, the Broghil National Park houses a dazzling variety of fauna – especially Pamirian and Siberian bird species. The Broghil valley shares borders with the Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan and has about thirty freshwater lakes of various sizes, coupled with breathtaking abundance of natural landscaped beauty.
