Gujrat: Education Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Afzal Shahid on Thursday stated that the authorities concerned were finalising 26 development projects for the upgradation of government educational institutes. He said that these projects would be completed at a cost of PKR 58 million.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting presided over by Deputy Commissioner Khurram Shehzad. As per the official, PKR 18 million will be utilized to construct buildings for two schools, PKR 9.7 million will be used to upgrade a primary school into a middle secondary school, and PKR 7 million will be used to rehabilitate and restore a dilapidated school building.

He added that nine IT labs would be installed in two higher-secondary and one elementary school; at an estimated cost of PKR 90 million. Similarly, the construction of additional classrooms in local school and provision of facilities in three other schools will cost PKR 16 million, he said. Moreover, the provision of pre-nursery educational facilities in nine schools will cost an estimated sum of PKR 2.7 million.
