Rawalpindi Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) took strict action against rent defaulters and sealed 20 shops in Bunni Market. However, 10 shopkeepers paid the outstanding rental amount on the spot due to which officials allowed them to continue working.
The TMA received special instructions from Rawal Town Administrator, Saif Anwar Jappa, to accelerate the recovery campaign. The TMA launched a special campaign to collect outstanding charges from the shopkeepers who are running their business in the TMA shops. Saif Anwar Jappa had directed officials to recover the due payment from shopkeepers and seal the shops with outstanding dues. A prior notice was issued to all the rent defaulters to pay the dues within 10 days.
Under this campaign, the TMA has collected over Rs 42.5 million and is now by taking action according to the law against rent defaulters. The TMA collected Rs 4.7 million of rental amount. Special raids are conducted to recover the outstanding charges in different markets. According to officials, next spot to collect amount is Sherpao Market.
