Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the Turk Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), a department of the Turkish government, recently signed an agreement to develop a water storage project in the city; estimated to cost PKR 6 million — a news source reported.

As per the publication, the agreement was made during a meeting between Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza, WASA Managing Director Iftikhar-ud-din and TIKA Country Head Gugan Umar.
Under the project, a water tank will be installed behind the WASA office to collect rainwater. Special water pipes will be installed on the roof and corridors of the WASA office for the collection of the water.

Additionally, the water used for ablution in Liaquat Bagh’s Sunehri Masjid will be collected in a proposed new water tank to be established at the site. Eventually, the water collected from both the aforementioned projects will be used to water the plants in the city — with sprinkler systems being installed for this purpose.
