Islamabad: Turkey has offered to provide a spray plane to Pakistan to facilitate its attempts to combat locust attacks in affected areas, a news source reported.
As per the publication, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) spokesperson informed that Turkey would lease the aircraft to Pakistan for six months and that it would be used to conduct aerial sprays to check the onslaught of locusts on crops. He said that the aircraft would prove efficient in the eradication of locusts from the country.

The locust attacks in recent months have been responsible for destroying crops in Punjab and Sindh. These desert locusts entered Pakistan from Iran, and spread through various regions and ravaged crops in Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab. The NDMA informed that the locusts’ swarms had affected the crops in Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Umerkot, Sanghar, and Tharparkar districts.

Previously, China had dispatched 300,000 litres of pesticides and 50 sets of pest control equipment to assist Pakistan in combating the locusts’ attacks.
