Rawalpindi: In view of rising electricity costs and persistent financial crunch, Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has decided to shift its tube wells and filtration plants to solar power, a news source reported. This transfer will be gradual.
The bills for WASA’s 400 tube wells around the city have crossed PKR 10 million, and the payment of these bills has been pushing WASA’s financial limits, sending them out of control. The step towards solar power will save millions for WASA each month and preparations have begun for this shift.
