Peshawar: Tribal districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will establish social welfare complexes for the benefit of the citizens, according to a news source. KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan directed the district administrations to identify and acquire land in the recently-merged districts for the construction of these centres.

Khan communicated these instructions during a meeting of the social welfare department, which he was chairing. He also instructed the officials present to supervise shelter homes in Peshawar and the divisional headquarters to ensure their optimal performance. Currently, there are eight of these shelter homes in the various divisional headquarters of the province, with more being constructed in Wana and Khyber.

There are over 80 priority projects underway in KP for the social welfare sector, and CM Khan was briefed about their progress and details. These projects include the establishment of social welfare complexes and shelter homes, the provision of benefits to senior citizens, provision of social security to beggars, and action against professional beggars.
