Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has instructed the District Administration (DA) to establish citizen facilitation centres in the newly-merged tribal districts (NMTDs), a news source reported. Further, he directed the authority to begin identifying appropriate buildings for this purpose; with the objective behind the creation of these centres being to ensure the provision of basic documentation services to the citizens of the region.

Chairing a review meeting for the establishment of the citizen facilitation centres in the NMTDs, the CM said that they would extend the centres to the divisional headquarters as well next year.
Currently, the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA)’s facilitation centres provide the following services to the public:
- Issuance of National Identity Card (NIC)
- Issuance of NIC to overseas Pakistanis
- Family registration certificates
- Child registration certificates
- Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) Merged Districts grants
- ‘e-Sahulat’ for paying utility bills, cellular bills, and costs of schemes under the Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP)
- National Bank ATM
- Excise & Taxation Officer (ETO), Islamabad
NADRA plans to expand these services by including passport counters, civil registration management system counters, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) counters, and provision of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates.

In a similar manner, the provincial government will also expand the number of services provided in the planned facilitation centres. These services will include provision of birth, death, marriage, divorce, and domicile certificates, resolution of educational documents, land transfer, and property matters, vehicle registrations and renewal, driving licences, Bank of Khyber ATMs, issuance of route permits, and traffic fine collection.
