Islamabad: The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Chief Commissioner Jawdat Ayaz launched the Monsoon Plantation Drive 2018, according to a news report. The campaign was launched in a ceremony attended by Deputy Mayor Azam Khan and various other dignitaries.
The MCI Chief Officer Najaf Iqbal said that the campaign has been launched on the directives of Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz. Iqbal also highlighted that during the ongoing monsoon season, a total of 150,000 saplings would be planted in Margalla Hills National Park, in Simly Dam catchment areas, among other forest and urban areas. He also said that the purpose of this campaign is to create awareness among residents about the importance of plants and have people actively participate in preservation of green areas.
