Lahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar announced that 0.1 million trees will be planted in the city, as per a news story. Akhtar announced this while launching a tree plantation drive at Punjab University’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS). Director Prof. Dr. Saleem Haider, Punjab Forest Department Chief Conservator Muhammad Farooq, as well as various other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
Akhtar highlighted the importance of conserving the environment and said that all people should strive for a healthy atmosphere. Similar tree plantation drives have been carried out in other parts of the country as well.
