Islamabad: The federal government has set age caps dictating the amount of foreign currency that a person can carry oversees without declaring it in advance, according to the new advisory issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

This new FBR advisory allows travellers under the age of 5 to carry USD 1,000 (or any foreign currency equivalent) for one annual visit. For travellers who visit Pakistan multiple times per year, a maximum amount of USD 6,000 (to be carried over the year) has been set.

Similarly, one-time passengers aged 5-18 years have been limited to carrying only USD 5,000, and frequent passengers up to USD 30,000, over the course of one year.
Adult travellers (aged 18+) can carry USD 10,000 on single visits in a year, and USD 60,000 over the year in case of multiple visits.
Furthermore, under the new rules, the government has prohibited all travellers leaving Pakistan from carrying more than PKR 3,000 in cash.
