Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi District Transport Board (RDTB) recently invited bids from transporters for the newly opened bus route between the city and the Islamabad International Airport (IIA), a news source reported.
The RDTB has invited bus owners to apply for permits to run public transport on the aforementioned route. The sources within the board have revealed that permits are being offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

As per the board’s plan, air-conditioned busses will help transport travelers to and from Rawalpindi to the IIA. The bus route will operate from two locations in Rawalpindi:
- The first in Rawat, from where it will pass through Kacheri Chowk, Saddar, Peshawar Road, Chor Chowk, Pirwadhai Mor, Golra Mor, Chungi 26, and Motorway Chowk before finally heading to the IIA.
- The second at Koral Chowk, from where it will head to Benazir Bhutto International Airport and head to the IIA while passing through Ammar Chowk, and Peshawar Road.

The RDTB have set the maximum fare limit for the air-conditioned busses at PKR 200 for an end-to-end ride. The minimum fair between the two stops on this route will be PKR 50. The board plans to have ten busses operating on each of the abovementioned routes, with ten stops along the way.
