Peshawar: TransPeshwar – the operator of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit service – has placed the order for 24 new buses for the public transport system in the provincial capital, news sources reported on January 21.

The new TransPeshawar buses will be made part of the existing fleet of 158 buses plying on 30 routes in the city. As per the spokesperson of TransPeshawar, the 12-metre-long buses will arrive in the next two weeks and will be used on off-corridor routes. It was also highlighted that the buses will contribute to lessening the burden on the existing buses as over 237,000 commuters used public transport per day in December last year. - The new Super Express route from Chamkani to the Mall of Hayatabad will be made functional in the next few days
- ER-1 corridor with five stops including Chamkani, Sardar Ghari, Malik Saad Shaheed, University of Peshawar and Mall of Hayatabad stations operate from 7:30 AM to 4 PM with a 30-minute commute
- ER-4 corridor will be soon opened and will be operated from Chamkani to Malik Saad Shaheed via Ring Road and Charsadda Road
- Hayatabad to Phase-VI terminal via Phase I route
- Two routes have been planned from Pabbi to Malik Saad Shaheed and from Regi Model Town to Amn Chowk
- The functional ER-12 and DR-3 routes from the Shah Alam Pul on Charsadda Road up to the Mall of Hayatabad with 10,000 commuters daily

It is important to note that BRT Peshawar was launched in August 2002 by former prime minister Imran Khan, and was recently declared the first Gold Standard BRT Service in the Subcontinent, third in Asia and seventh in the world by the International BRT Standard Technical Committee.
