Rawalpindi: A ban has been placed on the transfer and allotment of land owned by the state, reported a news source. The orders came from Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The deputy commissioner has also issued an official letter in this regard. This notification directs the departments concerned to carry out a transparent inquiry into all cases of state land allotment. The said investigation is expected to help identify fake allotment and transfer letters, which are to be cancelled upon identification.

Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Chaudhary Sajjid Mehmood raised this matter in a meeting previously held in the Deputy Commissioner Office. The MPA made mention of the incidents where the land mafias had used their influence to confiscate prime land areas owned by the state.

Randhawa took note of the minister’s concerns. He issued orders to cancel all land allotment and property transfer documents issued against state-owned land.
