Rawalpindi: The Government of Pakistan is considering to resume train services across the country under strict SOPs to contain the COVID-19 viral spread, a news source reported. These safety guidelines have been finalised – and currently await implementation.
So far, the government has not announced its final decision on the matter, but it is expected that train services would resume partial operations before the Eid holidays. In this case, the Pakistan Railways would operationalise 28 trains.

Sources also claim that Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed had recently placed a special request before Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan to resume the rail service; in order to enable the country’s poorer citizens to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families.
As per the Railways’ finalised SOPs, trains will be washed after every journey. This guideline will be followed in addition to the other SOPs being implemented in all public places where lockdown restrictions have been lowered.
