Islamabad: The authorities concerned have given 24 hours to shopkeepers, showroom owners and car rentals to clear pavements and vacate parking areas in Blue Area, Islamabad, a news source reported. Deputy Inspector General of Police Waqar Ahmed Chohan, flanked by officials of the Islamabad Traffic Police, visited the area and identified encroachments and other illegal structures.

They were told that people who come to the area for shopping were denied use of parking spaces by the traders and showroom owners. The officials concerned said the parking stands were reserved for the visitors and not for traders or showroom owners.
Representatives of the Blue Area Traders’ Union, when issued notices, sought time from the authorities concerned to clear the parking areas and pavements. They were warned of consequences in case of violations.
