Chaman: Leaders of the Central Traders Union have demanded a district status for Chaman, a news source reported. The leaders, including City President Sadiq Achakzai, expressed their concerns in a joint statement.

They requested the authorities concerned to consider the matter of assigning a district status to the area; given that its population is over 0.6 million. They revealed that the people and employees in Chaman had continuously faced difficulties in resolving official matters due this problem.
The union’s leaders also appealed to Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan for resolving this public issue soon.

Currently, Chaman is designated as a tehsil of Qilla Abdullah. The leaders stated that Qilla Abdullah was the only city to have four tehsils. They have demanded for separating Chaman from the city and assigning it the status of a district instead.
