Islamabad: Local traders have called on the government and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to refrain from auditing the income tax returns filed in 2020 and selected for further scrutiny through computer balloting; and to accept them as submitted in view of the economic exigencies imposed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic – a news source reported today (July 22).

According to details, the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT) and Traders Action Committee Islamabad President Ajmal Baloch and Secretary Khalid Mahmood Chaudhry revealed in a joint statement that the country’s traders had faced ‘major hardships’ during the last four months on account of the pandemic situation; particularly in terms of paying their shop rents and utility bills, as well as the salaries of their employees.
Considering the circumstances, they appealed to the FBR and the government to not send any audit notices to traders and to accept their income tax returns for the year without adding further to their existing difficulties.
