Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to make tourist sites easily accessible by linking them with motorways and highways to benefit from Hazara and Malakand tourism potential and decrease the load on popular sites, according to news published on Thursday (November 25).

As per the details, Khawazakhela – the most scenic town of Swat district – will be connected to Besham Shangla district via the motorway in order to make it accessible for tourists and adventure enthusiasts. Reportedly, the government has planned to construct Khawazakhela-Besham Motorway to boost tourism, regional connectivity, and industrialization in the region.
According to an official of the Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority, the government has allocated PKR 24 million for the feasibility, design, and construction of the said project. It was reported that Khawazakhela and Besham will be connected with Swat Motorway (M-16), which will transform the Malakand division into a business, trade, and tourism hub.
Moreover, a feasibility study and construction of 2.5-kilometre Chupryal Bypass Road in Swat will be constructed at an estimated cost of PKR 400 million, out of which PKR 20 million is allocated in the current fiscal year. Similarly, construction work on several road projects is to be expedited, including:
- Kandia Road in Upper Kohistan district, at an estimated cost of PKR 3.8 billion
- Beer-Kalangit Road in Haripur district, at the total cost of PKR 1.2 billion

Once completed, the said projects will benefit thousands of people and promote regional connectivity and tourism.
