Lahore: President Dr Arif Alvi launched the commercial helicopter flight service in Bagh aimed at promoting tourism in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), according to news published on October 26.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the helicopter flight service ‘Kashmir Air’, President Alvi iterated that AJK was blessed with immense tourism potential owing to its abundant natural splendour. He urged the private sector to helm the development of the region’s tourism sector.
During his visit to AJK, the president urged the government to formulate and introduce advanced tourism-friendly policies that will attract investment from the private sector and promote sustainable and environment-friendly tourism. He opined that the tourism industry has become pivotal for developing economies in terms of generating foreign exchange, creating jobs, promoting growth and bridging economic disparities.

Mr Alvi stated an integrated approach for the enhancement of the tourism industry is needed in AJK, which ought to be planned after careful assessment of ‘economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism on the region should be conducted, besides establishing linkages between stakeholders, businesses, resources and tourism activities’.
