The committee has proposed for a controlled reopening of the tourism sector by the end of August, and the complete resumption of tourist activity by the start of November. In this regard, the district administrations from across the country will be tasked with identifying areas that are safe for tourist activity. The administration of the selected areas will then be responsible for the implementation of the communicated SOPs formulated to contain the coronavirus spread.

The committee further proposed that in the first phase of the reopening initiative, only selected tour operators would be allowed to book trips. In addition, only families and those travelling on private vehicles that have prior proof of bookings and reservations made at local hotels will be allowed to enter resort towns. At the same time, the committee’s plan does not allow for individual travellers and those travelling on bikes to visit tourist sites under the first phase of the operation.
