Islamabad: Through its official Twitter Account, the Prime Minister’s (PM) Office on Wednesday (August 26) shared the notification detailing the Terms of Reference (TORs) for the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Tourism. This development comes in the wake of PM Imran Khan’s decision to form a high-level NCC to implement the government’s agenda of increasing tourism on a priority basis.
As per the notification, the committee will work on elevating the tourism industry’s competitiveness. Furthermore, the committee will work for maximum utilisation of the country’s cultural historical, religious, archaeological, geographical and natural tourist assets to create jobs, reduce poverty, ensure sustained economic growth, social inclusion and improve the people’s quality of life.

The notification reveals that Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfi Bukhari will be the convener of the this committee. The committee will also be comprising of chief secretaries from the Industry and Production Ministry, Aviation Ministry, Defence Ministry, Religious Affairs Minister and the Climate Change Ministry.
In addition to these, the committee will have State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) deputy governor, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) managing director, all chief secretaries or additional chief secretaries and Evacuee Trust Property Board chairman as its members. While the Cabinet Division will provide secretarial support to the committee.

The prominent TORs specified for the NCC on Tourism are as follows:
- Geo-mapping and profiling of all tourist spots, service providers and hospitality businesses
- Identification of barriers blocking tourism development and recommendations for their removal
- Promotion of tourism investment through Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model, small and medium enterprises and access to capital as well as overseeing the availability of feasibilities for viable projects
- Devise and oversee strategy to ensure affordable domestic tourism as well as identification of options to grow domestic tourism in a systematic manner
- Identify and suggest means to formally train the human resource working in the industry
