Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday instructed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to collaborate with the Urban Development Unit and develop terms of reference (ToRs) for reviewing Lahore Master Plan 2050, according to news published on May 24.

The LHC has also directed the LDA to employ a focal person for the task while extending a stay on the implementation of the Lahore Master Plan 2050. The orders were given by Justice Shahid Karim while he was presiding over a petition filed to challenge Lahore Master Plan 2050 by Abdul Rehman and others.

As per the sources, the petitioners are of the view that the agricultural area of Lahore has been shifted into urban areas without justification. The petitioners stated that several thousand trees will be razed and cause further deterioration to the city’s environment if the plan is implemented.
