ISLAMABAD: A Senate panel on Friday drafted the terms of reference (TORs) with regard to a clean and green initiative for the capital city – a news source reported.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed chaired a meeting of the Senate Sub-committee on Climate Change. Senators Keshoo Bai and Sitara Ayaz, and environmental activists and experts Saima Umar and Dr Dushka Saiyid, were all present at the occasion.
The participants discussed issues related to water pollution, garbage disposal, cleanliness of drains, and hospital waste management. Senator Sitara Ayaz said that efforts were underway to address environmental issues of the country.

The committee was informed that Nathia Gali had been declared a plastic-free zone. Moreover, several private firms had been invited to collect and manage waste in the capital city.
The participants were unanimous in their opinion regarding the launch of an awareness campaign on environmental concerns. They stressed on the need to address the issue of garbage disposal on an urgent basis.
