Mansehra: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Laiq Mohammad on Thursday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had approved PKR 8 billion for the development of Barindo Hydropower Project, a news source reported. As per the publication, the hydropower project will be constructed along the Indus River in Torghar district.

Laiq Mohammad, who is also the chairman of the district development advisory committee, said that the project was intended to uplift the situation of people in Torghar district. Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan will inaugurate the hydropower project soon, Laiq Mohammad added.

He further reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to helping the progress of Torghar district and appreciated the efforts of Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati to include Torghar district in Ehsaas programme.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had launched the Ehsaas programme to improve the lives of the underprivileged people across the country and Torghar is one of the 10 districts from KP included in the project.

Previously, the Torghar District Development Advisory Committee under the lead of Laiq Mohammad had provided its approval to the construction of the Balakot-Nusratkhel Road at an estimated cost of PKR 1.4 billion.
