Karachi: There has been a significant show of interest from foreign investors in the sale of two LNG plants in Pakistan, according to a news source. Top banks such as JP Morgan Chase & Co. and CLSA and Credit Suisse Group AG are bidding for these plants. This is expected to raise about USD 2 billion in foreign currency for Pakistan.
The two plants are being privatised and are expected to attract investors, particularly from China and the Middle East. The authorities are considering over 10 bids from different groups interested in attaining a financial advisory role. They are expected to pick a bank by the end of March.
Other companies which showed interest in buying these plants include Citigroup Inc, Standard Chartered Plc, and Lazard Ltd. As per reports, this is Pakistan’s biggest privatisation deal in a decade.
