Peshawar: The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation has disclosed that the three hydel power projects, with a total power generation capacity of 62.8 megawatts (MW), in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be completed by June 2022, according to news published on Wednesday (November 24).

The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation briefed KP Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on the progress of hydel power projects. As per the details, the projects include 40.8 MW Koto Hydropower, 11.2 MW Karora, and 10.2 MW Jabori hydel power projects. Once completed, the projects are expected to generate annual revenue of PKR 2.73 billion.
Moreover, CM Khan ordered the commissioners and deputy commissioners concerned to resolve all matters related to the land acquisition of Kalam and Balakot hydropower projects in a month.
Reportedly, the attendees were also informed about the progress of four other important hydropower projects, which includes 6.5 megawatts Barando, 10 megawatts Chapri, 69 megawatts Lavi, and 84 megawatts Mataltan hydropower projects.
Moreover, the meeting also briefed the attendees about the progress of foreign-funded hydropower projects. Currently, work on three projects was underway, which includes 88 megawatts Gabral Kalam, 157 megawatts Madain, and 300 megawatts Balakot hydropower projects.

Besides this, solarisation projects were also discussed in the meeting. The attendees were informed that work on seven projects was in progress. According to details, work on 13 solar mini-grid stations in tribal districts and 2,956 mosques have been solarised. It was also reported that 6,983 schools and 143 basic health units were solarised.
