Islamabad: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) shared a timeline for the completion of Gwadar International Airport, according to news sources. It was disclosed that the USD 246 million greenfield airport is being constructed on an area of 4,300 acres, which is expected to become operational by September 2023.

As per the details, the passenger terminal building of the airport will be completed by June 2023, while the work related to air traffic control by March 2023. The overall work of the airport will be completed by September 2023.
It is pertinent to mention that the international airport is a joint venture between Pakistan, China, and Oman whereas it will be managed and operated by CAA under open sky policy. Once developed, the airport will handle international and national flights.

Moreover, the project is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) development. It will be the biggest airport in Pakistan and is expected to boost trade between China and Pakistan
