Islamabad: The reconstituted commission for Islamabad master plan on Thursday (October 14) set a timeline for revision of the capital’s master plan, according to news sources. The commission decided to complete the task of revising the master plan within six months.

The said information was revealed after a review meeting was held at Capital Development Authority (CDA), which was chaired by Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed. Secretary of the Commission Zafar Iqbal disclosed that eight independent committees have been formed by the commission to ensure the work is completed within the stipulated time. According to the details shared, the committees will have the authority to communicate with experts and consultants to address the problems faced by the locals.

Moreover, it was informed that the commission will conduct a study on 3,600 square kilometres of nearby areas including Rawalpindi, Haripur, before revising the master plan. Sharing more details about the commission, it was mentioned that the independent committees will include urban issues, legal, population, regional planning, environment, integrated approach committee, and transport accessibility committees.
