Islamabad: The federal government has formed three benches of the adjudicating authority formed under Benami Transactions Act 2017 to adjudicate on relevant cases in three major cities of the country – a news source reported.
The adjudicating authority benches will hear benami property cases in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. The relevant jurisdictions have also been determined, after which the authority became fully functional.

The notification issued for this purpose notes that the Islamabad bench will tackle cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and Punjab’s Rawalpindi division. The second bench at Lahore will hear cases from Punjab, except the Rawalpindi division. The third bench in Karachi will hear benami cases from Sindh and Balochistan.

The Directorate General Anti-Benami has already become operational, with the purpose of identifying and taking action against benami properties and accounts around the country.
