Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad administration have repossessed 15,000 kanals of land in the anti-encroachment operation in the federal capital, a news source reported. The land retrieved is worth PKR 357 billion.
According to Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqat the land has been retrieved in Bari Imam and Tarnol areas along the Korang Nullah, the Kashmir Highway and the Islamabad Expressway. He expressed the determination to continue the operation unabated.
The DC stated that the staff of CDA’s enforcement wing and the Machine Pool Organisation (MPO) Directorate also participated in the operation.
According to CDA’s Director Enforcement, the authority had issued notices to land grabbers before starting the operation and now advertisements were being published in newspapers to warn encroachers.
CDA and capital administration also conducted an operation against the encroachments on the right-of-way of Kashmir Highway. A number of illegal constructions including service stations, rooms, hotels, kitchens, shops, sheds and boundary walls constructed on the right-of-way and state land were demolished during the operation.
