Islamabad: As many as 39 private companies have offered land measuring at least 570,000 kanals for setting up the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) scheme – a news source reported.

The government plans to establish a housing scheme for federal employees. At least 75% of the scheme’s quota will be allotted to government employees. The remaining 25% will be offered to the general public.
The allottees will be able to avail mortgage facilities. Moreover, funds for the project will be secured through commercial banks. The FGEHF scheme will be established in major cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar.

It is pertinent to mention that at least 39 private entities have given 93 suggestions with regard to setting up the said scheme. FGEHF will be established in a phased manner.
In the first phase, the government will scrutinise the documents with regard to the bidding process. In a follow-up, the authorities concerned will conduct a study of the land identified for the project.

The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) will look into the technical suggestions to determine their feasibility. The findings will be sent for further scrutiny to the steering committee of the FGEHF. The Executive Committee on Housing Foundation will give the final approval on the matter.
