Rawalpindi: The district government has decided to build theme parks on the state land it recently retrieved from illegal occupants in the city, a news source reported. This decision was announced during the third meeting of the ‘Glorious Rawalpindi Project’ on Sunday.

Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) on Horticulture & Tourism Asif Mehmood chaired the meeting. Further, the attendees decided to:
- Identify & restore key historic buildings in the city
- Establish a new food street
The officials concerned informed the meeting about the successful retrieval of state land in Chak Fojdar and Chak Azeemullah. They added that this land would be utilised for the construction of new theme parks.
The meeting also decided to allow the hosting of public recreational programmes on the playgrounds of public colleges and schools. Addition schemes discussed during the meeting included the construction of a bus stand, new car parking facility, and public toilets on Rashid Minhas Road – expected to be developed on a public-private partnership basis.
The advisor to the CM stated that with the Glorious Rawalpindi Project, they wanted to beautify the city.

Meanwhile, the technical bidding process for firms seeking to acquire the consultancy contract for Leh Expressway began on Sunday. The authority concerned will open the sealed financial bids today (Monday), after which one of the companies will receive the final contract.
Once the company receives the contract, it will have five months to prepare a consultancy report of the project.
