The Rural Kachee Abadees haven’t seen any project for development, to improve their conditions for 26 years. The directorate general for development of kachee abadees was made in 1987 and since then nothing has been done for the development of the kachee abadees in rural areas. Also 900 kachee abadees of urban areas have been neglected for past four years. 4,836 notified kachee abadees have received no funds, neither have new schemes been accepted for the development for the said abadees. What’s even more alarming is the fact that the allocated amount of Rs 15 Crore in the Punjab budget of 2013-13 wasn’t spent on the kachee abadee development.
The department for the development of kachee abadee both rural and urban has not taken any step in the past years for the development of these areas. Neither the revenue board did their survey to take into account the years of neglect. The chief minister Punjab Mr Shabaz Sharif gave orders for a survey to to be undertaken which for the first time put the kachee abadees under the department of colonies, from the management of department of local governance.
Is this survey 3,375 kachee abadees were registered and ownership certificates were distributed. Due to some reasons though no developmental project could be started and 900 urban and more than 2,200 rural kachee abadees are deprived of any development. Overall all the 4,386 notified kachee abadees have no funds allocated for their development.
