Gwadar: The Gwadar Expo 2018 started on Monday, 29th January, 2018. This was a joint venture between Gwadar Port Authority and China Overseas Ports Holding Company, Zhang Baoshong, according to a news source.
The event was attended by local companies and enterprises from China, Europe, US, and Africa. Almost 5000 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors had applied for this event, but only 200 companies and about 5000 visitors were allowed to attend the two-day expo.
The high number of eager investors and exhibitors is a positive sign highlighting an increased interest by the international business community in investing in this region. The Gwadar Free Zone presents one of the most attractive sites for investment, and for technical exchange taking place. Up until now, almost 30 investors from Pakistan, China, Europe, and Middle East have applied to establish their industrial units in GFZ.
State Minister for Ports and Shipping, Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal said on 29th January 2018 that a 900-meter-long berth will also be established on Gwadar Port. This, he said, would facilitate the process of loading and unloading of cargo from the vessels. Chairman Gwadar Port Authority, Dostian Khan Jamaldini declared Gwadar and Chabahar ports as sister ports, after an Iranian delegation also arrived at the mega event.
