Hyderabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has inaugurated Tharparkar’s first airport, according to a news report. The airport has been named after a pre-partition peasant leader Mai Bakhtawar.
The construction of the PKR 2.2 billion project was financed by the Sindh government. The primary objective behind it is to facilitate travelling for investors engaged in coal mining and power generation projects in Thar.
Speaking on the occasion, the PPP Chairman said that the Sindh government’s public-private partnership model had produced successful results in Tharparkar and the coal project has brought about an economic revolution. Bilawal also appreciated the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company for completing the mining and electricity generation works in a timely manner.
