Karachi: The Thar Foundation has decided to provide 100,000 saplings for initiating a plantation drive in Sindh under its ‘Thar Million Tree Program’, which aims to plant a million new saplings in the Thar region by end of 2019 – a news source reported.

Thar Foundation is the corporate social responsibility front for the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) and the Engro Powergen Thar Limited (EPTL).
To facilitate this measure, SECMC Director Site Operations Syed Murtaza Azhar Rizvi recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sindh Forest Department Chief Conservator Riaz Wagan.

According to the agreement, SECMC will provide the forest department with 100,000 saplings of various indigenous species. In response, the department will arrange a large-scale plantation drive across Sindh, as well as monitor the said campaign.
