Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday inaugurated the Thal Express and train tracking system projects – a news source reported. This train service will run between Rawalpindi and Multan.
He said that the federal government is striving to develop the railways sector. To achieve this task, the Ministry of Railways has sought assistance from China, which has one of the best railways systems in the world.

The prime minister stated that his government was committed to completing CPEC projects on time. These include a developed network of roads, transfer of technology from China, as well as the creation of special economic zones (SEZs).
Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed previously highlighted the achievements of Pakistan Railways. He said that the Railways Ministry successfully introduced several new train services during the last six months.

In a similar effort, the ministry generated an additional revenue of PKR 2.38 billion during the same period. Furthermore, it successfully reduced its diesel expenditure for running trains – from PKR 15 billion to PKR 18 billion.
The minister further informed that the train tracking system has been developed by Syed Muddassar Hussain, a Sukkur-based IT expert, at a cost of PKR 7 million.
