Kohat: The new discovery of oil and gas in Thal Block, Kohat will be linked to the national grid in 2021, according to a news source. Senior Vice President of the Hungarian MOL Company, Ali Murtaza Abbas, on Thursday claimed that their company had become the second-largest producer of oil, natural gas, and condensate in Pakistan with this new discovery.

The MOL Company discovered oil and gas reserves in the Lachi Tehsil of Kohat with the capacity of 3,242 barrels of crude oil per day and 16.12 mmfcd of gas. Abbas revealed that this was the company’s 10th discovery at the Mami Khel South-I well the other day.

He added that by May 23, 2020, this well had successfully reached a total depth of 4,939 metres. He asserted that the company had invested in the area to offset any impact of its operations and also employed 40% of the local population, as both skilled and unskilled workers.
