Lahore: The Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) has recommended a realignment, rehabilitation, and improvement plan of 27 roads and intersections to ease the burden of traffic load in the city, according to news published on Monday (January 24).
As per the details, the authorities concerned formulated a plan to resolve civic problems. The TEPA has put forth development schemes after a comprehensive study. The following are the details about the uplift of roads:
• Improvement/ management plans for Khalid Butt Chowk (Masood Anwari Road) & T Junction of Main Boulevard, Gulshan-e-Ravi and Bund Road
• Remodelling of U-turns on Ferozepur Road from Qartaba to Ichhra
• U-turns in front of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Jail Road
• Improvement of Cooperative Store Chowk, GT Road
• Remodelling of Centre Point Junction, Gulberg
• Traffic management plan of Avari Chowk and Faisal Chowk, Ferozepur Road, Bhaati Chowk, Mall Road, Nishtar Chowk, Regal Chowk, Data Darbar and surrounding areas, Joray Pul, Shimla hill intersection, and Zarar Shaheed Road
Moreover, the plan also stated the development of 16 new ‘structure-plan roads’. The details of such roads include:
• Road starting from the railway line, crossing Pak Arab Phase-II up to Ferozepur Road at Kalamkar Road, at the cost of PKR 1.040 billion
• Road starting from Akbar Chowk and passing through UET Housing Scheme, Audit & Account Housing Scheme up to Defence Road, at the estimated cost of PKR 132.183 million
• A high-tension line from Raiwind Road, crossing Pine Avenue up to the railway line, at the cost of PKR 1.333 billion
• Road starting from Hudiara Drain, crossing Zaamin City, Pak Arab Phase-II up to Defence Road, for the total cost of PKR 556.927 million
• Road starting from the railway line, crossing Royal Residencia, Zaamin City up to Ferozepur Road, at the total cost of PKR 705.917 million
• Road from Defence Road, crossing KEMC Housing Scheme, Bagh-e-Irum, Khayaban-e-Amin up to Butcher Khana distributary, at an estimated cost of PKR 545.95 million
• Road from College Road along Khaira distributary up to Defence Road (Railway Line), at the cost of PKR 988.911 million
• Road starting from Ayub Chowk at Southern Bypass, crossing Abul Sattar Edhi Road up to Khayaban-e-Jinnah, at the cost of PKR 3.304 billion
• Road along Butcher Khana distributory from Khayaban-e-Amin Interchange up to Halloki Interchange, at an estimated cost of PKR 475.042 million
• Road from Khayaban-e-Jinnah, passing through WAPDA Town, PGECHS Phase-II, NFC, Valencia Housing Scheme up to Defence Road, for the total cost of PKR 327.886 million
• Road starting from Khaira distributory passing through Nashama-e-Iqbal Phase-II, Muhafiz Town Phase-II, up to Defence Road, at the cost of PKR 631.68 million
• Road starting from Canal, crossing Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, College Road at Ameer Chowk, railway line, Defence Road up to Ferozepur Road, at the cost of PKR 2.218 billion
• Road starting from Shahpur Interchange, crossing Khayaban e Jinnah, WAPDA Town up to College Road, at the total cost of PKR 36.739 million
• Road from Expo at Southern Bypass parallel to Canal up to Ring Road at Bahria, at the cost of PKR 5.278 billion
• Road (Chenab Road) staring from Khana Kacha Road, crossing LDA City up to Sue Asal Road, at the total cost of PKR 1.046 billion.
