Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is likely to inaugurate the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) on March 23, a news source reported on March 10.

A review meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, was held to check the progress on the test flight to be conducted at the airport. As per the details, the test flight is expected to be conducted this month on the state-of-the-art runway of the green field of Gwadar International Airport. The news source reported that prominent figures of the region, and Pakistan and China will be present at the event.

The review meeting also discussed the progress on other projects related to flight operations at the airport including Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Complex, Airports Security Force (ASF) Camp for 1,050 personnel, landslide infrastructure, cargo building, and the 132kV grid station. Planning Minister Iqbal has directed the CAA to complete the development projects for the airport before September 2023.
