Rawalpindi: The Punjab Northern Dams Organisation has issued tenders for the construction of the Dadocha Dam, a news source reported. As per the publication, the aim of the dam’s construction is to tackle the ongoing water crises in Rawalpindi.

According to sources, the construction of the Dadocha Dam will permanently resolve the water crises in Rawalpindi and is expected to cost over PKR 3,280 million. Meanwhile, the authorities concerned expect to complete its construction in 2.5 years.
The Punjab Northern Dams Organisation would welcome the tenders until April 22, and open them on April 23. Following the construction of the Dadocha Dam, it will provide 25 million gallons of water to Rawalpindi on a daily basis. The dam will also have the daily capacity of an additional 10 million gallons of water.

On the other hand, the authorities concerned have completed 90% of land acquisition for the dam and have completely finished the land demarcation process. In addition, they also plan to construct a recreational avenue adjacent to the dam.
Finally, the dam will also provide boat ride services on its premises.
