Lahore: Tenders have been issued for 260,000 streetlight-installations in the city — of which 246,635 will be allocated to the union councils, while the remaining 15,023 will be reserved for placements on the major roads in the metropolis – a news source reported.

According to the details, the streetlights will be purchased under the Punjab Municipal Services Programme, and funds worth 88.8 million have been released for this purpose. However, a major issue facing this development is that the funds released make up only 35% of the total amount required.

This means that only PKR 10 million have been issued for the Ravi Zone, instead of the total required amount of PKR 18 million; PKR 10 million has been released for Gulberg, instead of PKR 37 million; PKR 12 million has been released for Nishter, instead of PKR 19 million; PKR 12 million have been released for Shalamar, instead of PKR 27.9; PKR 10 million for Samnabad, instead of PKR 36 million.
