Lahore: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa on Sunday revealed that the tender for the development of an important section of the M-8 motorway had been issued, according to a news source. This particular section of the road has been deemed essential in improving the socioeconomic development of Gwadar, and in connecting the city’s port with the rest of the country.

On the occasion, Bajwa further stated that the said project would be ‘a beacon of light’ for the region of South Balochistan, as it is situated in the remote districts of Kech and Awaran. He added that all the authorities concerned were committed to ensuring that all CPEC projects were being developed within their due time in order to make certain that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for the country was finally fulfilled.

The M-8 motorway will have four lanes, with a total length of 892 kilometres. Additionally, the road is expected to make the Gwadar region much more accessible to the rest of the country — especially due to the network of highways being developed as part of the CPEC initiative.
