Islamabad: The Federal Government of Pakistan has estimated that the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project would cost PKR 114.61 billion, reported a news source. The Government will provide 50% of the total funds figure, while the provinces will generate the remaining amount.

The federal government has prepared a proposal to allocated PKR 14 billion for the plantation project in budget 2019-20. For this project, the government plans to plant 10 billion evergreen trees, and fruit and flowering bearing plants in the next five years. The total estimated cost of planting, nourishing and taking care of these plants is PKR 127 billion.

To make this project successful, Pakistan Meteorological Department activated Federal Forestry Board a few months ago. Furthermore, it also instructed the government of Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Punjab to prepare and share a PC-1 report.
