Lahore: The Punjab Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of the first state-of-the-art technological university in Dera Ghazi Khan, a news source reported.
The bill was presented by Punjab Minister for Industry and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal. The university had titled Mir Chakar Khan Rind University of Technology will be located in DG Khan. The PKR 2.3 billion project is meant to promote research for producing quality technical human resource.
The industries department spokesman said that the Government College of Technology, DG Khan, had been allotted university status. He informed that the PC-I of the project had also been prepared.
The technology college is spread over a land area of 288-kanal. Meanwhile, 14 technological varsities are currently operating in DG Khan Division. The alumni of these colleges would also get admissions in the new university.
The Mir Chakar Rind University of Technology project is included in the annual development programme of 2019-20. Its developmental work is expected to start soon.
