Lahore: The first educational project under CPEC, Punjab Tianjin University of Technical Education (PTUT), has been inaugurated, according to a news report. The inauguration ceremony was held at PTUT campus in Township, Lahore.
The PTUT has been established temporarily in Township Lahore, while the permanent campus will be constructed on Raiwind Road, Lahore. The university was established under an agreement between the Tianjin University of Technology & Education (TUTE), China and Punjab Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) on May 17, 2017.
The campus has been established at a cost of PKR 96.167 million, and PKR 995 million has been approved for its first year of operation. The university has enrolled 288 student in seven different departments. Chinese faculty, which includes Deans and Heads of Departments (HoDs) have joined PTUT. The university session started on March 19, 2018.
