While addressing the meeting, Director General FWO Major-General Inam Haider stated that 70% of the civil work of the canal had been completed. Of the 120 km, 91 km would flow in gravity, he added.
He added that there were some alignment issues with the canal which were being reviewed by NESPAK and assessed by a third party. In response, the NESPAK officials said that they would recommend changes to the design soon. Additionally, a geo study of the canal has been planned to ensure the embankments can take the pressure of 660 million gallons of water a day.
