Taxila: The Hassanabdal Tehsil Municipal Administration has decided to launch a mega restoration project for the tomb of Lala Rukh located in Taxila, a news source reported. The Mughal-era tomb, attributed to Princess Lala Rukh, daughter of Emperor Akbar, will be repaired in collaboration with local donors and philanthropists.

The project is being undertaken to provide locals with recreational facilities. At the moment, the tomb is in poor condition due to a lack of technical support and manpower required for its upkeep. Assistant Commissioner Hassanabdal Adnan Anjum Raja said that the conditions of the building needed to be improved to attract more tourists. Recreational facilities, more seating and lamps will be added to the site.

He said that the local donors were eager to fund this project in an attempt to preserve the national heritage of Pakistan for the coming generations. Raja said that even some of the employees of the Tehsil Municipal Administration had donated for the project from their own pockets.
