Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) hasn’t taken any measures to extend the date for filing income tax returns as of yet, according to a news report. As per Inland Revenue Regional Tax Office Chief Commissioner Dr. Hamid Atiq, the last date to file returns is 30th September and those who don’t meet the deadline are required to pay estimated tax to get an extension. Atiq also added that those people who’ve failed to file some tax but deposited some amount will get an extension.
According to Atiq, names of late filers and those who fail to pay a part of income tax would be removed from the Active Taxpayer’s List (ATL), but that they would be able to include their names in the ATL by March next year. These statements have come while Atiq was talking to a delegation of Rawalpindi Islamabad Tax Bar Association (RITBA), led by various dignitaries.
